Mr. Valentín Padilla-Uribe is a first-year law student at Northern Illinois University College of Law. He received his Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Criminal Justice from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Mr. Padilla-Uribe aspires to use his law degree to pursue a career in public interest law, particularly in immigration advocacy, working to support and defend immigrant communities. He plans to use the HLSF scholarship to support his ability to pursue public interest work without financial constraint. This summer, he will continue clerking with the Immigration Division of the Cook County Public Defender’s Office assisting in removal defense cases.
