Ms. Michelle Barrera-Valenzuela is a second-year law student at DePaul University College of Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Illinois Chicago. Ms. Michelle Barrera-Valenzuela hopes to dedicate her legal career to human rights work, environmental advocacy and protecting the rights of vulnerable communities. She plans to use the HLSF scholarship to lessen the financial burden of law school, thus allowing her to invest in a public interest law career. This summer, she has a clerkship at Midwest Environmental Advocates and is looking forward to broadening her knowledge of environmental law and serving our communities.
