Valeria is a first-year law student at Chicago-Kent College of Law pursuing a Labor and Employment Law Certificate. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business. Valeria previously volunteered at Community Immigration Law Clinic as a legal assistant, using her fluency in Spanish and English to help during client intakes and translating documents. This summer, Valeria will be working as a PILI Fellow with Legal Aid Chicago in its Immigrant Rights and Workers Practice Group. Valeria plans to practice immigration, and possibly employment law upon graduation. Valeria wants to dedicate her legal career to supporting families who come to this country looking for a better life and are forced to navigate the legal system in a foreign language. The HLSF scholarship will provide valuable financial support to help Valeria focus on her studies and achieving her goal of working in public interest law. HLSF proudly welcomes this future Latina lawyer to its network and the overall community of Latino lawyers.
