Ricardo Santiago
Ricardo Santiago is a first-year law student at Chicago-Kent College of Law. He graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Media, and Theater, cum laude. He is interested in labor and employment law, public interest, and consumer law practice. Ricardo is a Volunteer Shift Supervisor at the Self-Help Web Center at Richard J. Daley Center where he assists pro se litigants. He also volunteered with the Orleans Public Defenders Office as a law clerk. His exposure to lawyers who provided pro bono representation for DACA applications inspired him to consider a legal career. He also worked as a paralegal where he met lawyers who mentored him and further encouraged him to go to law school. The HLSF award will help Ricardo take unpaid opportunities such as judicial externships, pro bono assignments, and volunteer work where he can give back to the community at large and share his insight and opportunities with fellow law students.
