STEVE AND MARISEL HERNANDEZ SCHOLARSHIP
Enrique Espinoza
Enrique is a second-year law student at Chicago-Kent College of Law. He graduated from the University of Veracruz in Veracruz, Mexico with a Bachelor of Tourism Business Administration.
His experience as a union steward with a labor union has motivated Enrique to pursue a practice in labor and employment law. Enrique’s ability to balance a near full time job and a young family while excelling academically demonstrates his desire to work hard and succeed. Amazingly Enrique has even found time for volunteer work to serve the Latino community. He participates in the Chicago-Kent Immigration Clinic, citizenship workshops with Instituto del Progreso Latino, interprets for the National Immigrant Justice Center, and is a volunteer Certified Mediator for Center for Conflict Resolution. As a parent and working student, Enrique’s maturity and focused career goals impressed the HLSF Board. While Enrique will continue working his current job to support his family, this summer he will continue his work with the Immigration Clinic to gain additional legal experience. Enrique expressed to the HLSF Board that receiving the HLSF award boosted his confidence and reaffirmed his decision to change the course of his professional life.
