Ms. April Karina Guevara Espinoza is a third-year law student at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. She received her Bachelor of Science in Public Service and Public Policy from Arizona State University. This summer she will be studying for the Illinois Bar Exam. In the fall, Ms. Guevara Espinoza will begin her fellowship at Impact for Equity in their Criminal Legal Systems department working on policy reform to reimagine public safety, increase police accountability, and decarcerate Illinois. She aspires to use her degree to serve marginalized and under-resourced communities. She plans to use the HLSF scholarship to cover her bar exam and other living expenses over the summer.
