Ms. Alexis Hernandez is a first-year law student at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Political Science, with a concentration in Civic Leadership, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to law school, she worked in Washington D.C. on Capitol Hill with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and as a paralegal with the Department of Justice. Ms. Hernandez aspires to work in public interest and one day become a judge. She plans to use the HLSF scholarship to cover summer coursework expenses. This summer, she will work at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund performing litigation work.
