
Ms. Lohatany Argueta is a first-year law student at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. She received her dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Education and Law with a concentration in Paralegal Studies from Nova Southeastern University. Ms. Argueta aspires to utilize her law degree to assist children of immigrant families in navigating the deportation, separation, and foster care system, drawing from her own experiences as a first-generation Mexican American. She plans to use the HLSF scholarship to fund her summer internship in Washington, D.C., where she will work at the American Bar Association, conducting research and writing policies for the Child Welfare and Immigration Project.
