Mr. Carlos Bernal is a third-year law student at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He received his bachelor’s degree from DePauw University. Mr. Bernal hopes to use his law degree to advocate for individuals and businesses through complex litigation, while also involving himself in many pro bono initiatives in his community. He looks forward to also serving as a mentor for first-generation and underrepresented students pursuing legal careers. He plans to use the HLSF scholarship to help offset bar preparation and living expenses during his transition from law school to practice. This summer, Mr. Bernal will be studying for the Illinois bar exam before starting as a first-year associate at Freeman Mathis & Gary LLP.
